Our History

Cornerstone Mortgage Consultants was founded by Gerry Weir as a whole of market mortgage, general insurance and protection consultancy offering fully independent and impartial advice to our clients.

Gerry has over 30 years experience in the mortgage and protection industry, much of which was spent in management with lenders.

“When I first entered the financial industry, I was taught the value of striving to provide an excellent customer experience. That ethos has never left me and I have an absolute passion for providing outstanding customer service; for example, many of my clients have work and family commitments and I often see them in the evenings in the comfort of their own home. 

At Cornerstone, we aim to understand our client’s mortgage needs and, accordingly, provide a personalised mortgage solution for each client taking account of their unique financial position, credit history and risk preference. Using this information together with our experience and expertise, we source the most suitable mortgage product deals available on the market at any given time.

However, I like to think we offer far more than a traditional mortgage broker service. We don’t just look to find the best deal for our clients. We then aim to take the stress away by managing the whole application process, completing the paperwork and acting as a focal point for the solicitor, estate agent, valuer and lender. In doing so, we strive to ensure our clients remain satisfied at all times. I like to think we are more than just a mortgage broker.”
